The Instagram reels is a 15-second video making feature.
This feature is going to be rolled out @ 7:30 PM IST today(08-July-2020)
As we all know that Instagram is very popular in India specially for sharing stories and videos. Now you all know that for sharing videos there is an IGTV option present or we can share our videos directly on the field but that video will be one minute long only so considering this Instagram has also launched an Instagram reels option. By using reels we can share our videos with some cool filters and effects.
This is really a surprise step taken by Instagram for those who wanted to continue making videos and were looking for alternatives of TikTok to other short-form video-making platforms.
What we can see in this Instagram release that REELS has a dedicated space on Instagram which is present in the Explore tab of Instagram.
The most unique part of this feature is that by using reels users can decide whether they want to share with their followers or not.
To share it on reels only and not sharing with their followers is what it makes unique.
Reels is a fun, creative way for people to both express themselves and be entertained,” a Facebook spokesperson told Business Insider.
Steps to create Reels :
1) Go add to the stories tab and click on add to the story.
2) Select reels option which is present at the right bottom of the Instagram camera.
3) There you will see an audio option so choose that audio option and select a song from the Instagram music library and applied to your reel (Instagram has decided to do a partnership with various prominent music labels so that users can create their content in reels with their desired music and can share it with everyone)
4) They have also provided an option to attach your own original audio by simply recording in the reels just like Tik Tok.
5) You can trim your audio/video as you want.

Instagram Product head, Vishal Shah spoke to ET Now on the big release and said, "Instagram has always been a home for creativity and a place where culture is created, and that will continue with a new format that we built - Reels. We have a community over a billion people that use Instagram, so certainly the platform is global, and it allows creators even today before Reels to have a global stage and audience."
"But, if you think about different types of products we offered; whether that was photos on feed, short-form videos on stories or even longer-form videos on IGTV, we didn't have a natural home for short-form edited videos that people have on a lot of other platforms."
Shah further noted, "So, I think the opportunity is to fill in the gaps that we have on Instagram in terms of these formats but to also ensure that when a creator uses Instagram, they have all the tools available on the platform." source
Did you know before that this feature was already available in three different countries Brazil, Germany, and France? Yes, it is.
India had over 611 million downloads for Tiktok and now these numbers will be shifted towards Instagram Reels. Really a mastermind move from Instagram.
Instagram Reels app is available inside the Instagram app which you can find on Google Playstore.
