Kalsubai trek: Highest peak of Maharashtra
Kalsubai Peak is also known as the Everest of Maharashtra.
This is the image of the Holy Kalsubai temple situated at the peak of the mountain.
The height of this trek is 5400 ft. It is mostly famous for its height and adventures. This trek is the total test of endurance.
The Kalsubai peak is situated in Western Ghats of Maharashtra and Trek to Kalsubai starts from its base village Bari, which is situated on its eastern side under Igatpuri Taluka, Nashik district.
Why it is named Kalsubai Trek?
It is said that there was a girl named Kalsubai who helped her villagers and helped animals in their tough times and one day she decided to go for a summit of this trek and never returned. So the villagers named this peak in her memory and made a temple on the village side and as well as on the peak of the mountain.

How long is the Kalsubai trek?
Kalsubai trek length is divide into two major parts :
- Part 1 is Trek from its base village Bari to Ladder
- Part 2 is from Ladder's part to its summit.
For the first part, you need to cross the beautiful agriculture areas of its base village and then some tree surrounded paths and then followed by some tough elevated roads made up of rocks. This can be 4 Km long approximately.
For the second part, you need to trek and climb 3 ladder type railing and then followed by one final railing you will reach Kalsubai Peak which is approximately 2 Km long.
On foot, Kalsubai trek length can be approx 6 Km from the base village, Bari.
What is the Kalsubai peak trek difficulty level?
The difficulty level Medium but it a very long trek so it becomes hard for some people. In the rainy season, it can be hard due to its slippery surfaces.
Where can I find Kalsubai trek organizers?
It depends on your region, from where you are traveling. There are many local guides or maybe some big organizers are available especially in Maharashtra who offers you a very good service for this trek and you can contact them.

There is beautiful location present near Kalsubai Trek known as Bhandardara Dam. This offers sightseeing camping near Kalsubai Peak. Here we get to notice an awesome sunrise where the sun is rising between two hills having a reflection on its water.

Kalsubai trek is situated in Harishchandragad wildlife sanctuary so it is surrounded by many forts having great views visible from its top.
You can see forts like Alang, Madan, Kulang, and also the views of Harishchandragad and Ratangad.
