Drone photography - The future of photography

The photography is the thing which makes you creative and innovative. It motivates you to do things using out of the box thinking. Using the drone for photography is the most creative way possible to capture stunning images. Nowadays drones can be used to capture aerial images, for wedding photography, cinematic shots, etc.

This blog is going to be a FAQ type blog. Here I will try my best to clear your doubts on drone photography.

so the questions are...

What type of Drone should I use?

Well, It can be divided into two major categories

*Drone with its drone photography camera pre-attached.

*Drone in which you can attach your camera like GoPro etc.

You need to find out that and then go for it. Usually, it is easier to carry a drone without a camera, and based on your needs you can attach the camera later. I am not going for the detailed review for every drone which you can use. You can search about drone reviews on google.

Does a drone provide an Instruction manual?

Every device comes with its user manual. 

Talking about the drones there are few points which you need to read before flying the drone.

It will help you to become a master of drone photography at a very faster rate.

*Check control interface there you will find instructions for movements of the drone.

*Check wifi control option. You can control your drone with remote wifi and check about the range like till how far your drone can be connected with the remote.

*Always carry extra pair of batteries in case you don't wanna miss any scene to capture.

*Know about its sensors that how they work in an open field or any narrow place.

What are the rules and regulations for flying a drone?

Drones can be divided into the following categories based on their size and weight :

1). Nano: Less than or equal to 250 grams (.55 pounds)

2). Micro: From 250 grams (.55 pounds) to 2kg (4.4 pounds)

3). Small: From 2kg (4.4 pounds) to 25kg (55 pounds)

4). Medium: From 25kg (55 pounds) to 150kg (330 pounds)

5). Large: Greater than 150kg (33 pounds)

Based on the above-mentioned list(source), we have to follow the rules and regulations.

Some basic list of rules are:-

*Drones must be registered with the government and must have a UIN no assigned for them.

*Drones must have a unique identification number stuck on its body.

*Drones must not fly more than 400 ft. above.

*Drones must not fly near restricted zones like airports, military areas, fire zone, or any sensitive zones.

*Drones must be in the sight of drone pilots when flying.

Is training needed to fly a drone?

If you are flying for your hobbies then you just need basic training that how you can move the drone and how its sensors work.

If you are opting for professional purposes like in the movie industry, Wedding photography, and similar work like this, then you need to go for the training definitely to know the art of flying drones.

What are the features of a drone camera?

There are a lot of features present in drones. Well, it depends on the use of drones for photography, commercial, and military uses.

Some of the main features are as follows: 

*GPS plays an important role in setting its position rightly.

*Drones are equipped with a lot of sensors like orientation sensors, distance sensors, thermal sensors, and many more.

*Antenna and receiver help the drones to be connected with the user.

*Accelerometer helps the drone to be at a proper speed.

*Live camera footage helps the photographer to see what he/she is capturing.

How creative you can be with a drone photography?

Creativity is the thing that will come from you only. Nobody can teach you how to be creative in photography.

For that you need to practice a lot, Sometimes you may fail but there will be a time when you will find yourself creative in photography.

There are some steps we may help to become a pro in this or you can say creative: 

*Know about the location: This will help you to go the places from where you can take a beautiful shot.

*Use GPS always: Sometimes unknown roads lead to a dead end. To avoid this you should be having some roadmap or any may based on that location in which you are going.

*Research about viewpoints in that location:

You should know about the viewpoints in that area from where you can take awesome shots. Also, know if there is any sunrise/sunset point or any reflection shots can be taken or not. This may help you to develop some creativity in photography.

Do we require post-processing/filters after capturing the images/videos from a drone?

I usually do post-processing when I take an image. It's not necessary that you have to do it for every picture. But somehow I feel like you should do this for drone videos to make them more cinematic and also you add some slow-motion effects in your drone videos. It will make your video like a movie clip. This will help you most if you are planning to do drone photography for weddings.

For this, you can use Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Lightroom, Snapseed(for mobile), etc.

What are the areas in which we can fly a drone?

Now suppose that you have got the training to fly the drone and you have got skills to fly the drone but you are flying in no flying zone the area then legal action can be taken against you. This thing you need to keep in mind that what are the areas advised by the government to fly the drone for aerial photography.

Every country has its own set of rules which you need to follow and areas in which you can fly the drone.

You should check that before taking your drone to that country.

What do drone photography prices and drone photography cost?

The cost depends on how long you want an event. and also it depends upon your event type as well. Big events like concerts and rock show costs are too high and small events can cost you in a budget.

In India drone photography business is in boom and drone photography real estate is happening too much nowadays.

We have also seen drone photography in Bangalore and also drone photography in Chennai.
